How European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) will be governed is being designed now. EOSC pilot project, in charge of trialing and designing a stakeholder driven governance framework for EOSC, is inviting research infrastructures to take part in the debate and plan of the future EOSC. A workshop in this theme will be organized on 9th May, 2017 in Helsinki, in conjunction to the 6th ERIC RI networking meeting. Representatives of ERIC, ESFRI and all research infrastructures are invited to participate in the workshop.
EOSCpilot has established a Governance Development Forum to enable all different stakeholders to contribute to the development of the EOSC governance framework. The EOSCpilot Governance Development Forum (EGDF) is mandated to function and support the establishment of the EOSC. EGDF meets both virtually and face-to-face. There is a regular monthly and thematic, stakeholder targeted workshops will be organized to allow governance framework to be elaborated from the stakeholder perspective. The first EGDF workshop will take place on 9th May, 2017 in Helsinki, in conjunction to the ERIC RI networking meeting with focus on research infrastructures aspects and concerns on EOSC and its governance. Close interaction between the forum, EOSC pilot and European Commission is foreseen in the whole process of establishing governance principles and structures for EOSC.

Know More on EOSCpilot Governance Challenge
The main governance challenge of establishing the EOSC is how to construct a framework allowing strong and disparate stakeholders to work together. This framework also needs to address cultural challenges, encouraging the adoption of new ways of working and scientific practices. EOSCpilot will design and trial a stakeholder-driven governance framework with the involvement of all stakeholders. This will then shape and oversee future development of the European Open Science Cloud.
EOSCpilot, European Open Science Cloud Pilot project (2017-2018) supports the first phase in the development of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). It will:
- propose and trial the governance framework for the EOSC and contribute to the development of European open science policy and best practice;
- develop a number of demonstrators functioning as high-profile pilots that integrate services and infrastructures to show interoperability and its benefits in a number of scientific domains; and
- engage with a broad range of stakeholders, crossing borders and communities, to build the trust and skills required for adoption of an open approach to scientific research.
